As a grant reviewer you will:

• Help us make decisions about which Aged Care Grants to fund
• Gain an understanding of the grants processes and priorities within the aged care sector
• Support our work to improve the care of older Australians in our community

The Aged Care Grants Program runs twice a year, with individual grants valued up to $200,000 (plus GST) for a maximum of one year, with a 20% cash contribution required. Priorities for Round 1 are dementia care, restorative care and rehabilitation, and urgent and critical need. For subsequent rounds in 2022, social isolation and mental health and wellbeing will be added.

The role of a grant reviewer is to read the project proposal and critically assess the project against the key criteria.

We need reviewers who have experience in research and/or grant reviewing with a background and understanding of aged care service delivery. For this Round, knowledge and expertise in relation to dementia or restorative care and rehabilitation for older people will be especially welcomed. For subsequent rounds in 2022, social isolation and mental health and wellbeing will also be important.

If you are selected as a grant reviewer, you will be matched according to your area of expertise and provided with guidelines on how to review and assess the applications and the information that we need to help make funding decisions.

The Aged Care Centre for Growth and Translational Research is an initiative of the Australian Government to transform the future of aged care in Australia. We will deliver a range of activities to support the increased capability of the aged care workforce to adopt evidence-based practices and address the challenges in delivering high-quality care to senior Australians. Collaboration across the aged care sector, including partnering with senior Australians, direct aged care workforce, product and technology vendors, and research organisations will ensure the Centre's activities are responsive to the sector needs.
