We provide various pathways into Flinders University and your preferred degree. What works for one person may not work for another. Our pathways include options for those who have studied at TAFE, finished Year 12, studied at another university, or our Foundation Studies Program which is an introduction to university study.
View all the pathways and preparatory programs available to you as a non-school leaver below.
One of our most popular pathways into a Flinders degree is Flinders Foundation Studies. This preparation program is open to eligible applicants, enabling you to begin your studies at university.
Many students decide to come to university after completing a TAFE/VET qualification. We reserve places in most of our degree courses for TAFE/VET graduates.
Even if you did not finish high school (Year 12), your TAFE/VET qualification may allow you to enter university.
Adult entry to university via the Special Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT) assesses your ability to study at a tertiary level. It is a two-hour, multiple choice test similar to an aptitude test, with 70 questions designed to test your verbal and quantitative reasoning. The questions will assess your ability to think critically about a range of subjects and challenge you to make sense of a variety of material.
If you have completed at least one semester of full-time equivalent study at university, you may be able to transfer to study at Flinders University using your Grade Point Average (GPA).
Use your prior service in the Australian Defence Force (ADF) as a pathway to a Flinders University degree. If you hold qualifications from the ADF you can apply for a wide range of undergraduate or postgraduate courses.
Applying to study at Flinders is simple, even if you’ve been out of the school system for a while.
Applications are made via the South Australian Tertiary Admissions Centre (SATAC) at satac.edu.au.
The SATAC registration process is easy, and the site has comprehensive information about the application process. However, if you have any further questions about applying to study, don’t hesitate to contact us or request a one-on-one appointment at the bottom of this page.
You can view more information about how to apply, including when to apply and what happens after you apply here.
If you’ve studied at another institution, you may be able to have your study recognised as credit towards your new course, which could reduce the time required to complete your qualification.
You may even be able to have your previous work, voluntary experience or training recognised.
Find out more about credit transfer and recognition of prior learning here.
As you can imagine, degree costs vary, because course requirements vary from degree to degree. There are also Commonwealth supported and full fee-paying categories. You’ll find annual indicative fees on the individual course pages, based on a full-time study load of 18 units per semester, or 36 units per academic year.
Your total tuition fee is not confirmed until you have completed your enrolment.
Find out more about fees and charges here.
Flinders has a wide range of University, government and non-government scholarships, grants and financial support options available which can help provide support during your studies.
