As a Year 12 student you are able to apply for Flinders courses using your Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR). However, there are a number of pathways and preparatory programs available to you, meaning you don’t just need to rely on your ATAR as a way of getting into Flinders.
If you’ve finished Year 12 in previous years, or are currently studying Year 12, and you complete the SACE/IB (or interstate equivalent), you are eligible for competitive entry and guaranteed entry using your Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR).
There is no expiry on your ATAR – it is valid until you have attempted more than two years of full-time equivalent higher education study (eg bachelor level study).
If you’re in Year 12, uniTEST is available to enhance your chances of getting into Flinders.
We will select students based on their Year 12 results (60% weighting toward the ATAR selection rank) and uniTEST results (40%). Flinders will also consider applicants based on their uniTEST results (100%) as a standalone entry score (subject to SACE completion and any course pre-requisites or specific admissions requirements). If you take the test and don’t do so well, don’t worry, we will only consider your highest selection rank.
The Indigenous Admission Scheme provides an alternative entry pathway for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people into Flinders University.
The ATAR information shows the minimum selection ranks and the guaranteed entry selection ranks for certain courses at Flinders.
If you have strong results in the Research Project B subject you will be considered for entry into Flinders on your Year 12 results (60% weighting toward the ATAR score), and Research Project B performance (40%).
As a sportsperson, you’re used to putting in the hard yards, focusing your mind and pushing yourself beyond the ordinary to achieve the extraordinary. In other words, you have what it takes to succeed at uni.
At Flinders, we support elite athletes through our Elite Athletes Support Program and Elite Athletes Admissions Scheme.
The Universities Equity Scheme and the Universities Language, Literacy and Mathematics Scheme may both contribute to your Year 12 Selection Rank when applying for Flinders University courses. The scheme is administered by the South Australian Tertiary Admissions Centre (SATAC).
Your performance in the final year of secondary education is not always a true indicator of your ability to succeed at university. We will consider your school’s recommendation about your academic performance and potential for university study for admission to a wide range of Flinders courses.
