Flinders University acknowledges the Traditional Owners and Custodians of the lands on which its campuses are located, these are the Traditional Lands of the Arrernte, Dagoman, First Nations of the South East, First Peoples of the River Murray & Mallee region, Jawoyn, Kaurna, Larrakia, Ngadjuri, Ngarrindjeri, Ramindjeri, Warumungu, Wardaman and Yolngu people. We honour their Elders past, present and emerging.

Indigenous Workforce Strategy

Our Indigenous Workforce Strategy 2022 – 2025 demonstrates Flinders University’s commitment to increasing the employment of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples, and promotes equity, inclusion and social responsibility.

We aim to achieve 3% employment of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people through four priority areas:

Attraction and Recruitment

We will work towards becoming a preferred employer amongst universities to achieve employment parity for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Development and Advancement

We will foster an environment which supports the aspirations of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander staff to achieve individual success and to contribute to the success of their communities.

Culture and Retention

We will foster a work environment which is inclusive, culturally affirming, and safe to support the retention Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander staff.

Governance and Leadership

We will demonstrate leadership and commitment to progressing Indigenous employment and capacity building of Aboriginal and Torres strait Islander peoples through governance processes.
