Professor Paul Arbon, Dean of the School of Nursing and Midwifery, was delighted to host a morning tea reception on campus in mid-July to formally thank Mr Geoffrey Nottle, an individual donor who recently made a generous gift to the Flinders University Karmel Endowment Fund to specifically benefit the staff and students of the School of Nursing and Midwifery.
Now enjoying his retirement, Mr Nottle is an Alumnus of Flinders University who graduated with a Diploma of Educational Administration in 1977. He approached the School of Nursing and Midwifery earlier this year about making a direct donation, having been inspired by the dedication shown to the School by his neighbour and friend, Ms Didy Button, a lecturer in Nursing.
Mr Nottle was particularly keen that his donation “be used at [the School’s] discretion for the provision of equipment, materials … indeed anything of enduring value and benefit, to assist in the teaching of the professional programs of the School … and to expand and enhance the learning experiences of the students.”
Having approached the School itself in the first instance, Mr Nottle was then assisted by the University’s Development and Alumni Relations team in making his directed donation. The money donated by Mr Nottle was used to purchase two state-of-the-art nasogastric intubation models and two catheterising models for the School’s teaching lab, and has been greatly appreciated by everyone within the School.
