I’m passionate about writing – I dreamed of being a writer when I was younger. I now aspire to become a teacher as my future career. Knowledge and truth drive me – I’m constantly striving to achieve of a grasp of the truth through rational thinking for my ability to better understand the world.
In the short term, I aim to find a job in an international kindergarten or primary school in China, with the aim to obtain a position as a class head teacher. Eventually, with more teaching experience, my long-term ambition is to establish a private kindergarten with my family. With the population density in China, I believe this will be a booming business in the coming years. Therefore, studying in Australia can be a great help to my career development.
I chose to study in Australia because the quality of research and education is high. Australia also offers students and teachers from various international backgrounds – which will provide me with great opportunities to communicate with different cultures and alternative ways of thinking.
Additionally, in China, teachers with fluent English and overseas studying experience are in great demand. In the major cities of China nowadays, many kindergartens and primary schools are recruiting bilingual teachers – with high salaries on offer. As Australia is one of the major English-speaking countries, I can also improve my English level by studying in Australia and then greatly increase my competitiveness after graduation.
I chose to study in Adelaide as it’s a comfortable, peaceful and safe place for me to study. It’s beautiful, the local people are friendly and the social security is reassuring – and the living costs are not as expensive as Melbourne and Sydney. I think Adelaide offers a better environment to gain internship opportunities – students can gain a lot of practical experience with supervised field placements.
I’m looking forward to completing my professional placement when I arrive in Adelaide – and I’m really excited to see all the animals and natural beauty. I love animals of all kinds, and I’m extremely interested in the koalas and platypus!
I’m looking forward to sharing my Chinese food culture with other students in Australia. There are various specialty cuisines in different provinces, and people in China will prepare different traditional delicious delicacies in specific festivals as well.
I suggest that students studying online and offshore can establish the close connection with classmates and teachers through e-mails and also several communication apps to keep in touch with them timely and keep pace with the courses.
It is also a good idea to set up an online study group spontaneously to help each other and also develop the positive learning atmosphere.
In my spare time, I enjoy watching films, reading novels and editing videos and vlogs. I am also a big fan of swimming, hosting and dancing. I mentioned I love animals – and while I don’t have my own pets I love helping my neighbour take care of her two cats called Kitty and Potato when she is travelling
The Godfather, by Mario Puzo
Courage and confidence would be my super hero power, as these two qualities can inspire me to face all the challenges in life and help me overcome them.
During my undergraduate study, I volunteered to teach in several primary schools where the learning environment, teaching resources, and educational facilities were extremely poor for students. Due to the disadvantaged socioeconomic background, studying opportunities for those students were not readily available. It was this kind of experience that motivated me and confirmed my determination to dedicate my career and life to teaching.
It is my honour to receive the Flinders Vice-Chancellor Scholarship and becoming a member of this program has really encouraged me in affirming my previous achievements. This will motivate me to work harder in my academic studies during my Master’s degree at Flinders.
