While the expectation is for our commencing and continuing students to return to Australia, there are complications for some of our students. We understand, and we aim to help you start your future as soon as possible.
Many of our courses are available to commence in online mode from offshore, meaning you can make a start on your degree while the global pandemic continues to affect international borders and flight availability.
Offshore study in online mode is a temporary measure while the COVID-19 pandemic continues to affect international borders and travel.
This measure will cease when Government health advice and regulatory bodies indicate that it is no longer necessary. Students must arrange to travel to Australia as soon as they can do so.
Your course and study plan
Check the list of available courses below to see if your course has availability to commence offshore.
Some courses are available to complete fully online, but most have some topics that must be completed face to face. Where this is the case you may be required to undertake part time study, which will mean your total study duration will be longer than the standard advertised course length. If you complete all the topics available in online mode and still can’t travel to Australia you will need to suspend your studies until travel becomes possible.
Your COE and student visa
Flinders will issue your COE when you accept your offer and pay your first semester’s tuition fees.
We encourage you to apply for your student visa as soon as possible to ensure that once borders are open you can travel to Adelaide and join us on campus.
Student support
Access a wide range of support services online from our Support and Services Directory.
An online orientation is available just for you and our International Student Support team runs online activities specifically for our offshore students
Technical requirements
Before you accept your offer to commence online, make sure you have read the Hardware/Software page. Access to the right equipment will ensure that you are able to fully engage with all activities in your topics such as web conferencing, discussion forums, group work and creating assessment pieces.
“I didn’t want to put my future on pause. Flinders allowed offshore students to study a part-time load, two or three topics per semester, so I decided to study online now and join Flinders on-campus later.
Online study has been such a fantastic journey, from being scared of failure at the beginning of the semester, I became more confident. By the end of the semester, I had finished all my topics well. I learned many skills that I believe future employers will highly value."
Thi Huong Nguyen
Master of Information Technology, Vietnam
“Some of the advice I have for students studying online is to treat every online course as a real course, actively participate in all the lectures and tutorial discussions as if you are in the lecture hall..
Moreover, do not be afraid to ask for help, the professors are very understanding and helpful as we are all going through the same situation. In addition, it is important to practice time management, create a schedule you are comfortable with to avoid cramming before tests and assignments."

Master of Nutrition, Macau
