Music at Flinders 2021
Flinders University's exciting concert series bring some excellent musicians of international standing to the University.
The concerts provide an opportunity to engage with a range of classical and contemporary musical styles and genres in an intimate setting.
In response to the requirement for social isolation during the COVID-19 pandemic, the University will be filming the concerts for online viewing. We also invite small live audiences to attend the concerts. Numbers will be capped and official social distancing requirements will be adhered to ensure the safety of our musicians, audience members and staff.

All concerts will be held at 4.10 pm on the date listed unless notified otherwise.
Concerts are presented by the Flinders University Music Advisory Committee and Flinders University Alumni and Advancement.
22 September
Champion of contemporary music and founder and artistic director of Soundstream new music ensemble, pianist Gabriella Smart will present a selection of contemporary works for piano.
29 September
A very popular performer in the Music at Flinders concert series, Yundi Yuan will present a solo piano recital featuring works by Bach, Beethoven, Schubert, Chopin and Rachmaninoff.
6 October
Completing a series of three piano recitals exploring the classical and contemporary repertoire, exciting New Zealand-born pianist Liam Wooding will perform Douglas Lilburn’s Sonata for Piano in F# minor (1939), Stuart Greenbaum’s Remote Connection (2021) and John Adams’ Phrygian Gates (1977-78)
13 October
Natalia Beos is studying a Bachelor of Music in Classical Performance (Advanced) at the Elder Conservatorium of Music and Esmond Choi is a pianist and composer who currently holds five scholarships at the Elder Conservatorium of Music. They will present Esmond’s composition Suite for Piano and Violin and Dmitri Shostakovich’s Sonata for Violin and Piano in G major, op.134.
20 October
Brilliant clarinettists Dean Newcomb and Mitch Berick will perform a selection of works for clarinet. Dean Newcomb is Principal Clarinettist with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra, and Mitch has performed as guest Principal Clarinet with the Australian Chamber Orchestra, the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra, the Australian Opera and Ballet Orchestra and Orchestra Victoria.
27 October
A longstanding fixture of the Flinders University Lunchtime Concerts, the Flinders University Chamber Ensemble comprises mainly Flinders staff, who are mainly amateur but enthusiastic musicians, conducted by Arthur Siow.
