At Flinders, we recognise that careers are evolving and the workplace of the future will look very different from today. We are preparing our students for the careers of tomorrow.
No matter what course they are studying, by supporting innovation and enterprise at Flinders you can help us enhance their study experience and help gain adaptable and transferrable skills to equip them for future changes in the global job market.
The Flinders Automotive Solar Team (aka FAST) is a new team based at our state-of-the-art Tonsley Campus, with a mission to build a road registered solar car to be run in the 2017 Bridgestone World Solar Challenge this October.
Flinders has a long history in electric car development dating back to the 1970’s. Our first solar car will be called the Investigator Mk.III, which pays tribute to the original electric cars produced by the University, as well as Matthews Flinders’ ship, the Investigator.
The development of our team and solar car represents a new direction for research and opportunity for students to pursue their passions in renewable energy technologies. In today’s world of environmental turmoil, this projects allows students to investigate alternative fuels and potentially develop new technologies to contribute to a cleaner energy future.
With your support, the Investigator Mk.III will be the first in a long line of electric and solar cars produced at Flinders.
