Danie Mellor is an award-winning Australian artist maintaining strong links to his mother’s country on the Atherton Tablelands in far North Queensland. Receiving a doctorate from the National Institute of the Arts, Australian National University in 2004, he joined the staff of Sydney University in 2005, now dividing his time there with studio-based practice in Canberra. Encompassing drawing, printmaking, ceramics and sculpture, Mellor’s work is concerned with the vexed and interwoven histories of Australia’s Indigenous and settler cultures.
