HEAD-TO-HEAD examines shifting perspectives in Australian portraiture through the lens of the Flinders University Museum of Art collections.
From colonial illustrations to contemporary photography, selected works explore colliding cultures, traditions and politics in the depiction of the self and other.
The exhibition reflects upon the changing language of representation and ongoing construction of identity in art. It considers the cultural legacy of portraiture and the significance of collections today in what they might reveal about our past, present and future.
Curated by Flinders University Museum of Art.
