Flinders University Museum of Art (FUMA) is custodian of one of the largest university art collections in Australia. Established in 1966 for education and research, it features Australian and International art and currently comprises more than 8,000 works from the 15th century to the present day. These include paintings, sculptures, prints and drawings, photographs and videos, textiles, ceramics and jewellery.
This small display offers a brief hello or introduction to FUMA’s four major collection areas - Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art, European graphic works, conceptual art, and political prints and posters. Smaller collections encompass indigenous works from Papua New Guinea, North America and Africa, as well as Japanese Ukiyo-e woodblock prints.
FUMA invites students, staff and wider community to engage in its program of exhibitions and events, including lectures, workshops, forums, film and video screenings, performances, and floor talks by curators, artists and academics. FUMA aims to foster critical and creative engagements with art and ideas and promote better understandings between people. We embrace diverse audiences, encourage cross-disciplinary thinking and welcome innovative collaboration with local, regional and global partners.
