On Friday 1 October 2021, Flinders University College of Medicine and Public Health hosted a series of events to mark the 10th anniversary of the Flinders Northern Territory Medical Program at the Darwin Convention Centre. A daytime symposium and a gala dinner marked this defining moment in Flinders University’s delivery of medical education in the Territory.
The evening Gala Dinner was attended by 300 guests, including VIPs representing key partners NT Health and Charles Darwin University, clinical partners, representatives of the Australian Medical Association and training organisations.
Since the program’s inception, the NTMP has been providing nearly 50% of the new interns required in the Territory. Graduates to date have included nine Aboriginal doctors, with another six Aboriginal graduates likely in 2021.
