Gain a deeper understanding of the inner workings of the Australian and international publishing industries along with essential skills required to succeed in these industries. In a rapidly changing cultural and technological landscape, aspiring writers, editors and publishers will benefit from learning the diverse of skills this short course provides.
This course considers different perspectives on the roles of the author, the editor and publisher in the publishing process. We look at who decides what we are able to read, as well as the economics of the industry, and the implications of both for Australia’s national identity. The complex relationship between writer and publisher will come under the spotlight, along with the effects of the digital revolution on the industry.
At the end of each short course students undertake an online assessment (test) to demonstrate their understanding of the topics covered.
Dr Sean Williams is an award-winning, #1 New York Times bestselling author of forty-nine novels, six collections, and over one hundred and twenty short stories for adults, young adults and children.
