The entirely online course in Palliative Care Nursing offered by Palliative and Supportive Services at Flinders University provides an overview of best practice and the opportunity to develop knowledge in the palliative approach to care.

The short course is designed for both Enrolled and Registered Nurses, regardless of the clinical setting in which they work. It is structured to meet the needs of those who are interested in further study, and can contribute to Continuing Professional Development requirements.
The course will result in the understanding of theories and practices within health to support those who are terminally ill and their families with knowledge, evidence-based care and empathy.

All study materials are available online and access information will be provided upon registration.
Students will complete two essays and one reflective piece during the course and must obtain a 50% score for each piece of assessment in order to pass. Upon completion, participants who pass each assessment will receive a Certificate of Achievement.

Palliative Care Nursing is coordinated by Ms Deb Rawlings, a senior lecturer within the College of Nursing and Health Sciences.
Ms Rawlings has a wealth of knowledge and experience in the area of palliative care, and coordinates many postgraduate palliative care topics for students in the College of Nursing and Health Sciences.
Successful completion of this course may provide a pathway for Registered Nurses without an undergraduate degree, into the Graduate Certficate in Palliative Care.
