Flinders currently has a project underway to review and improve, simplify and streamline all of its policies and procedures. Policies and procedures articulate the principles which underpin University activities and decision-making, and prescribe the standards and processes for operation. The purpose of the project is to create clear and easy to navigate policies and procedures that empower staff and students to take action, reducing unnecessary bureaucracy and improving operational efficiency.
The University values the voice that students contribute to its decision-making and is committed to partnering with students to enhance opportunities for effective student participation. As a result, we are seeking interested students to become involved in a Student Policy Reference Group and directly contribute to the review of our policies.
Over the course of 2019 the Student Policy Reference Group will consider a number of policies that impact the student experience at Flinders and include the themes of:
There will be opportunities to share your views in face-to-face forums (running around 2 hours each time), with a small additional time commitment outside of the forums to review and comment on draft documents online.
This is a great opportunity to contribute to the governance of the University and develop personal skills in communication and advocacy. Students selected to participate in the reference group will be rewarded with a $50 voucher for their attendance at each face-to-face forum to compensate for their time and associated costs. Participation will also earn 50 points towards a Horizon Professional Development Award.
To register your interest in participating in the Student Policy Reference Group complete the form below by Wednesday, 15 May 2019. We are seeking around 10 students for the group from a range of Colleges, courses and cohorts. Applicants must be an enrolled student for all of 2019.
