“Studying Nursing at Flinders University taught me how to think critically, intellectually and medically about patient care.”
I am originally from Darwin and I moved to Adelaide to attend Flinders University to achieve my dream of becoming a Registered Nurse. I chose Flinders University for its prestigious reputation in nursing. The clinical labs were modern and had up-to-date medical equipment.
Studying nursing at Flinders University taught me how to think critically, intellectually and medically about patient care, based on evidence and practice.
Clinical placement helped me put theory into practice to develop strong communication and clinical skills on the wards, such as administering IV drugs and CPR. I experienced different areas of nursing during my clinical placements such as emergency, cardiology, paediatrics, surgery and medical.
I felt that Flinders staff were very supportive throughout my studies, and this encouraged me to learn more, especially during the stress of clinical placements. Flinders University not only helped me achieve my goal of becoming a Registered Nurse but also encouraged me to become independent.
Straight after finishing a Bachelor of Nursing at Flinders University in 2014, I was offered a job at Darwin Private Hospital. I look forward to my career as a Registered Nurse and I plan to specialise in emergency nursing in the future.
