With a Flinders Law degree the opportunities are endless. By studying a law combined degree at Flinders, Jordan has travelled to the US to intern in the United States Congress as part of the Flinders Washington Internship Program, studied Masters level law topics at Peking University in China with the Australia Asia Endeavour scholarship, gained work experience at Sydney law firm, King and Wood Mallesons and will study at Oxford University as the 2017 Rhodes scholarship recipient.
Flinders places an emphasis on the practical components throughout various subjects of the law degree. Some of my most memorable moments at Flinders have been my times spent with tutors and coordinators, who are well-renowned in their respective fields and many of them have strong practical knowledge for students. I found my place at Flinders relatively quickly when I discovered the community aspect within the law school, where people were extremely approachable and were there for me not just as a student but as a person.
When studying law at Flinders you learn to think and analyse like a lawyer should. You learn to identify the issues and think about things in a logical manner. You learn to communicate and explain the law to clients verbally and in writing. I ended up doing quite well academically and that was thank in no small part to the assistance I got from staff.
During my criminology studies at Flinders University I have been continuously amazed by the commitment my teachers have provided to my personal success and the access I have had to internationally recognised academics working within the school. Their willingness to give their time to provide support and encouragement has given me the confidence to continue studying a research higher degree at Flinders and carve out a completely new and unimagined future.
