A STEM enrichment program for Year 9 girls
Flinders University with support from the Department of Industry, Innovation and Science is offering an exciting new enrichment program for Year 9 girls only. The program involves hands-on activities and opportunities to engage with women working in a range of STEM professions.
The STEM Enrichment 3 day intensive conference including the Women in STEM Breakfast was held at Flinders University on 17, 18 & 19 February 2021.
During the year, eight enrichment days will focus on a range of real science areas covering topics such as physics, chemistry, biology and medical technologies.
There will also be a 4-part design and technology enrichment experience. This offering requires a commitment from both the school and identified students to participate one day per term, as all the students will be designing and making a wearable device over the course of the year.
In the last week of term 2, a three-day intensive program will provide students with a range of enrichment workshops, industry visits and a practical field trip. The program will be offered at Bedford Park campus for two days and based out of the Tonsley campus on the third day for the industry visits and the field trip.
Whilst the intensive program is open to all schools, Flinders particularity encourages rural students to participate in this intensive.
