The aim of the study is to improve our national understanding of veterans and their experiences in Australian corrective services systems. The study seeks to establish evidence regarding the reasons that veterans become incarcerated, the risk factors leading to their involvement in the criminal justice system and corrections, and their service needs while in prison and transitioning from prison.
The study will present information that can be used by commonwealth and state jurisdictions to support veterans in their successful transition from the military to civilian life.

Building capabilities into Australian industry and assessing weaknesses in the supply chain is critical to the development of a resilient industrial support base. This study will identify the best uses of modern industry practices to support the resilience of the national technological support base.

The Queensland Catholic Education Commission (QCEC) is currently planning a pilot implementation for Year 1 students of the UK Phonics Check trial in Catholic schools in Queensland in Term 3, 2018. These discussions have raised the need to evaluate the trial, which is expected to involve around 20-25 nominated schools across five dioceses. AITI has been asked to scope and cost an independent evaluation of student outcomes and teacher/leader experience of participating in the QCEC Phonics Check trial.

In times of peace, we go with the Army that we can afford. In times of war, we go with the Army that we have. The problem arises if we are not ready to scale up as needed. This study will focus on where we want to go and whether we can leverage existing assets and related capabilities to create what we may need in the future.
