Flinders Living is ideal for your next conference, workshop, meeting or social event.
Located just 20 minutes south of the Adelaide CBD, our facilities are on Flinders University grounds with magnificent views over the city and coast. We offer private bookings for accommodation and facilities. We can provide accommodation for groups ranging in size from 5-200 between December and mid-February each year—when student residents are off-campus. Approximately 200 rooms are available in University Hall and 250 rooms in Deirdre Jordan Village at this time of the year.
The Dining Room and Ballroom are available throughout the year working around our students’ requirements.
We also have a number of smaller rooms that can also be hired in association with these larger spaces. Standard audio-visual equipment is included but if your need are more complex we can refer you to reputable providers familiar with our facilities.
Our excellent conference facilities are available December to mid-February. We provide an experienced chef and staff to cater delicious meals for your dietary needs.

The hirer agrees to use the venue only for the purpose of holding or conducting a function as described in the confirmation of Venue Booking Form. The hirer will ensure that the function is conducted in a proper, orderly and lawful manner.
The hirer will not, without the prior consent of Flinders Living, make any alterations or additions to the venue.
The hirer will be responsible for any audio/visual equipment used during the function and will pay any associated hire costs. The hirer will be responsible for any associated costs of repair or replacement in instances of damage or theft of equipment.
All bookings are considered tentative until a deposit is received. To confirm your booking please forward the requested deposit and completed and signed confirmation of Venue Booking and Conditions of Hire form within 14 days of the event. For large functions a deposit may be required 31 days prior to the event, at the discretion of Flinders Living. Flinders Living reserves the right to refuse a booking.
If a confirmed booking is subsequently cancelled, the deposit will be forfeited unless cancellation is made at least 14 days prior to the event. If more than 14 days notice is provided, the deposit will be returned less 20% to cover administrative costs.
Flinders Living provides catering for functions using our experienced caterers. The hirer may not bring alternative caterers to Flinders Living venues.
The cost of general cleaning is included in the venue hire charge. The hirer will be responsible for any additional cleaning required over and above regular cleaning, eg, carpet stains.
All personal items brought on to Flinders Living premises are to be removed from the venue by the agreed finish time. Flinders Living accepts no responsibility for items left on the premises.
The hirer will be responsible for any breakage, damage, theft or vandalism to the Flinders Living venue or the property of Flinders University during, or associated with, the event. Damage must be reported to the Flinders Living Office immediately upon discovery, or as soon as practicable thereafter.
If through circumstances beyond the control of Flinders Living, the space hired becomes unavailable, Flinders Living reserves the right to relocate a function to another comparable space within Flinders Living. If a comparable space cannot be made available on the date or dates of the hire period, Flinders Living shall not be liable for any costs incurred by the hirer as a result of the unavailability.
A deposit of 25% of the hire charge must be paid within 14 days of a booking to secure the venue. Iif the deposit is not received within the specified time, Flinders Living reserves the right to cancel the booking and to re-let the venue to another hirer.
All electrical equipment brought onto Flinders Living premises is required to be tested and tagged in accordance with occupational Health, Safety and Welfare regulations.
The hirer shall take and effect all reasonable precautions against any loss or damage to Flinders Living by fire. Smoke machines, candles, explosive devices or any item with a naked flame are not permitted on the premises. No equipment, fittings, or materials may be placed in a position that will in any way obstruct the egress to any designated exit. Flinders Living reserves the right to remove any items that obstruct a designated fire exit and charge the hirer for the cost of any removal.
The hirer shall arrange public liability insurance for the hire period insuring against all actions, costs, claims, damages, charges and expenses whatsoever which may be brought or claimed against Flinders University or the hirer or both in relation to the function. Or, the hirer agrees to indemnify Flinders University from any loss, damage or claim as provided for under the hirer’s self insurance arrangements.
The hirer agrees to indemnify and keep indemnified Flinders Living and Flinders University against any action, claim or demand whatsoever which arises or may arise as a result of the hirer’s function. The hirer indemnifies Flinders Living for the loss or damage of any of the hirer’s equipment, property or personal belongings.
The hirer will permit authorised staff or agents of Flinders Living to enter the venue during the hire period for the purpose of inspecting the premises, or for any purpose connected with or related to these conditions.
The hirer is responsible for compliance with all applicable sections and regulations of the South Australian Occupational Health, Safety and Welfare Act, 1986.
An interim account will be issued when a booking is confirmed. A final invoice will be issued following the event. Payment is required within 14 days of receipt of invoice. Cheques are to be made payable to "Flinders Living" and can be mailed to Flinders Living, GPO Box 2100, Adelaide SA 5001.
Smoking is not permitted in the Flinders Living buildings or within 5 metres of any door or window, as per the Flinders University Smoking Policy.
We reserve the right to monitor sound levels at your function. As a residential student environment, hirers are requested to be considerate of those living in close proximity to Flinders Living venues.
Our in-house catering service provided by our business partner CaterCare is available to groups staying with us or using our facilities. We have a strong reputation for providing fresh, quality food and catering for Australia's diverse culture.
