Develop the skills, knowledge and attitudes to manage pre-hospital emergency and non-emergency situations in a manner consistent with best practice. This is an approved degree for anyone seeking a career as a paramedic with an Australian state or territory ambulance service or a research career in pre-hospital science. Graduates may also qualify for employment with ambulance services in international jurisdictions such as the United Kingdom.
Please note: While theoretical content delivered online can be accessed anywhere within the Northern Territory with internet coverage, the clinical skills and practical education will be delivered by practical workshop intensives held in Darwin. This will require students to spend up to 1 or 2 weeks in Darwin each semester.

Why study Paramedic Science at Flinders
This program will equip you to apply for employment with a range of domestic and international organisations including St John NT, South Australian Ambulance Service, Ambulance Victoria, St John Ambulance Australia, UK National Health Service Trust ambulance services (London Ambulance Service, Yorkshire Ambulance Service, South Central Ambulance Service, North East Ambulance Service, South East Coast Ambulance Service).
Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) approved program for first professional registration as a paramedic under the National Law.
An annual sub quota of up to five places is available specifically for St John Ambulance Australia (NT) volunteers. To be eligible you must have a minimum of 18 months volunteer experience with St John Ambulance Australia (NT) and have undertaken a minimum of 60 hours voluntary commitment per year during the past 18 months (applicants must also meet the University’s minimum entry requirements which includes completion of a VET Certificate 3 (or higher) in the Health Training Package award from St John Ambulance Australia).

This course is only available to applicants eligible under the remote and outer regional sub-quota, Indigenous sub-quota and/or the St John Ambulance Australia (NT) sub-quota. Applicants will be ranked for admission based on academic merit.
An annual sub-quota is available for applicants from remote and outer regional areas. To be considered for the remote and outer regional sub-quota applicants must apply to SATAC in the normal way.
Applicants must also, within 10 working days after submitting the SATAC application, submit a Statutory Declaration to SATAC which confirms that they have lived in remote or outer regional areas of Australia (Remoteness Classifications RA3 to RA5) for at least two years out of the past six years, or a total of five years since starting primary school in a remote and/or outer regional areas (RA -3 – RA5).A Statutory Declaration form can be downloaded here.
Applicants can check their eligibility in accordance with the definition above using the search tool at the Remoteness Area (RA) Locator site. Filter your search using the ASGS Remoteness Areas (2016) layer.
Up to 5 places are available for indigenous applicants. Such applicants must apply to SATAC in the normal way.
Applicants must also, within 10 working days after submitting the SATAC application, submit a Statutory Declaration to SATAC confirming the applicant is of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Island descent.

To be eligible under the sub-quota applicants must have a minimum of 18 months volunteer work experience with St John Ambulance Australia (NT) and have undertaken a minimum of 60 hours voluntary commitment per year during the past 18 months. In addition, applicants must meet the University's minimum entry requirements. Selection is based on academic merit.
To be eligible for consideration under this sub-quota applicants are required to apply in the normal way. In addition applicants must, within 10 working days after submitting the SATAC application, email to Flinders evidence confirming their minimum 18 months of volunteer work experience and 60 hours of voluntary commitment per year during the past 18 months. This can be evidenced by providing a statement from the relevant Divisional Superintendent (or authorised training/volunteer services officer). This documentation should be emailed to askflinders@flinders.edu.au Applicants must make sure they include their volunteer work experience with St John Ambulance Australia (NT) in the 'employment experience' section of the SATAC application

If you don’t meet our English language entry requirements and need to improve your English language proficiency, you can do so through our approved English Language Instruction Course for Overseas Students (ELICOS) providers.
This means that you can attend the required English language tuition at approved ELICOS providers and gain direct entry into university without an IELTS or TOEFL test.
If you don’t meet our academic entry requirements, you can still gain entry to Flinders University through academic pathways programs provided by the Flinders International Study Centre.
