We live in a world that is data-centric and evidence–based processes are in constant demand. This course aims to develop consumers of research who are capable of undertaking, as well as critiquing, educational research. It covers a range of quantitative and qualitative methods of data collection and data analysis and introduces students to the challenges of conducting research in the field of education.
Computerised systems have meant that data is collected about individuals in all contexts ranging from schools to workplaces. This data may be used for research or other purposes. As consumers of research, it is important that data is collected and used ethically, and that empirical research is conducted rigorously.
The Graduate Certificate in Educational Research Evaluation and Assessment can be completed fully online, providing you with the flexibility to study at your own pace and in your own time.
Flinders University is one of the few universities still offering statistical training in educational research. In addition to learning about how qualitative research is undertaken, students have the option of learning how quantitative data can be collected and analysed using up-to-date statistical methods.
