Responding to the increasing demand for outdoor education practitioners, this degree provides you with an understanding of the significance of outdoor recreation, sport and physical activity within the context of a healthy lifestyle. The Outdoor Education study option provides you a range of skills and knowledge to work competently and confidently in a range of roles in the expanding field of Outdoor Education and Recreation. Learning is enhanced with foundational studies in sport, health and physical activity in the degree.

Why study Sport, Health and Physical Activity (Outdoor Education) at Flinders
The Bachelor of Sport, Health and Physical Activity (Outdoor Education) will prepare graduates for a career in the sport development, sport coaching, leisure, health, outdoor education and recreation, sport and event management industries, and provide a pathway to further studies in physical education teaching through the Master of Teaching courses.
You will have the opportunity to obtain
Five outdoor Leadership topics, including one placement based work integrated learning experience that include ability to accredit with Paddle Australia, Bushwalking Leadership and South Australian Rockclimbing Education Association.
40+ days learning practically in the field, plus 4 cultural site visits, plus 150+ hours with placement partners working as an outdoor professional.
Eligible for a range of post graduate studies including a Masters of Teaching with a specialisation in Outdoor Education, Physical Education or Health.

The degree provides you with practical experience that prepares you for the workforce.
Students must obtain a National DCSI Screening, a Responding to Abuse and Neglect Certificate and Play by the Rules Certificate (free online course) in order to participate in placements.
There are opportunities to take your studies overseas with a student exchange program.

If you don’t meet our English language entry requirements and need to improve your English language proficiency, you can do so through our approved English Language Instruction Course for Overseas Students (ELICOS) providers.
This means that you can attend the required English language tuition at approved ELICOS providers and gain direct entry into university without an IELTS or TOEFL test.
If you don’t meet our academic entry requirements, you can still gain entry to Flinders University through academic pathways programs provided by the Flinders International Study Centre.
