Before studying psychology, I was a physiotherapist for 25 years. I got interested in mindfulness in the latter part of my physio career, teaching it to patients with chronic pain and general life stress. I was excited to know I could study psychology on a “fast track” through the postgraduate entry stream. I’m now doing a PhD, researching mindfulness in early high school as a prevention program targeting anxiety, depression and eating disorders. I feel incredibly lucky to have changed careers midstream to do work I am really passionate about.

The Master of Public Administration has been invaluable to my career. It opened up a whole new world for me, providing just the right mix of theoretical concepts and practical tools that could be directly applied to my work.

Studying an MBA provided me with a broad range of skills, knowledge, confidence and cultural perspectives that have greatly helped me to become a better manager and an innovative business leader in my community as a Founder of a social enterprise. Flexible study options allowed me to successfully balance study with a busy full-time job, and to put my learnings into immediate practice. My MBA has opened doors for me in my career and with my networks, and provided a solid foundation for me to build my own scalable business as a social entrepreneur.

The MBA program at Flinders gave me the ability to position myself for the next step in my career. The exposure and foundational knowledge across a wide range of business topics will allow me to move forward quickly in my field. The teaching linked theoretical concepts to real world examples that made the course interesting and relatable. Undertaking a health stream within my program has given me the opportunity to consolidate and grow my level of understanding into topics that are relevant to my current role and any future career change.

Studying an MBA through the Flinders Business School has enabled me to continue my ongoing education while working full-time in an often demanding profession. The flexibility and consideration demonstrated by the lecturers has motivated me to succeed in my studies. The MBA has broadened my approach and work methodology. I enjoy the engagement with multinational students. Collaborating with students from other countries has often provided a different perspective on assignments.

The Master of Health Administration has given me a greater understanding of the theoretical basis behind our services as well as a set of practical tools and techniques I can apply in my every day work. The Masters program also gave me a sense of the ‘bigger picture’. This understanding of the broader political and social context we operate in has been invaluable and enabled me to make more informed decisions.
