We’ve developed close relationships with more than 200 local, national and international organisations to give you the opportunity to gain specialist knowledge and proven on-the-job performance so you graduate work-ready and industry-linked.
You can specialise in year one, engaging in cutting-edge research, fieldwork and work placements because to us you are not a science student, you are a student scientist.
Our Work Integrated Learning placements for Engineering are up to 20 weeks long, the equal longest in Australia (compared to the standard 12 weeks).

The STEM Academy is leading STEM education in Australia by supporting passionate educators who bring Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics to inquiring young minds.
The Flinders STEM Outreach Program aspires to inspire high school students, teachers and the wider community to understand and enjoy the STEM disciplines of science, computing, engineering, mathematics and the environment. From our hands-on curriculum linked workshop program for students and teachers, to our industry events and participation at expos, conferences, Open Days and a number science related events like Science Alive!, you will see the STEM Outreach team making a difference. For the REALLY enthused students, we even run school holiday activities that will take their inspiration to a new level.
An initiative established for young women in STEM at Flinders aiming to support their choice of studying STEM, provide them with a greater awareness of what STEM work and study involves, while improving their confidence.
