There are plenty of opportunities to train in the NT from Intern to Registrar and the Flinders NT Regional Training Hub (Flinders NT RTH) can help you get on a pathway that meets your needs.

NT hospitals provide a range of services often not seen in similar sized hospitals due to the wide range of medical conditions, cross-cultural blend of patients, and combination of rural and remote locations.
The Northern Territory has a strong focus on generalism for their training programs. You will, at the Intern and Resident Medical Officer levels have the opportunity to consolidate, maintain and widen your knowledge, skills and experience, as well as have access to opportunities to explore potential careers in rural and remote settings.

Northern Territory General Practice Education (NTGPE) is one of nine, federally funded regional training organisations responsible for training the next generation of GPs and are the sole training organisation in the NT.
GP registrars who train with NTGPE are given the opportunity to train through either Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) or Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM).
Living and training in the NT offer unique and exciting possibilities for medical practitioners. The 2020 Medical Career Pathway Webinars will give you one-stop-shop access to medical specialist training colleges, NT consultants and trainees, employment and local training organisations who can assist you with your career planning. College representatives will provide information regarding their programs, the application process, local training and workforce pathways.

We can also put you in contact with experts to help you map out your career path. The Flinders NT RTH organises career expos and webinars. The career expos give you the opportunity to talk face to face with experts from the health services, training organisations and colleges. The webinar series compliments the expos with 60 minute virtual presentations from college representatives and NT trainees and fellows.

The Flinders NT Regional Training Hub can support you in linking up with a suitable mentor.
The Regional Training Hubs use their collective bargaining power to advocate to the Specialist Colleges to promote and recognise the need for rural pathways. Your input into any survey we run is invaluable in collecting information to present to the Colleges. Like our Facebook page and follow our blog to stay up to date.
The Flinders NT RTH organises networking opportunities for stakeholders, local students and the medical workforce. This can include meetings of JMO’s, Specialist Colleges, Health Services and Training Organisations regarding rural pathways.
The Flinders NT RTH regularly advises of a broad range of opportunities to attend professional development events and conferences that enable you to network, update and broaden your knowledge of future training pathways. Events and funding supports will be advertised through our Mentoring page, Facebook page and our blog.
The Flinders NT RTH collaborates with NTGPE, NTPHN, Aboriginal medical services, health services, clinics and colleges to pilot projects that advance working in the NT.
